Instructions for lightsabers with the Crystal Focus Saber Core 10

Controls

The lightsaber has two switches that have different functions. The main switch is located at the front, the auxiliary switch is directly underneath.

Installation

When you receive your lightsaber, the lightsaber will be in the off state. Unscrew the main body together with the pommel to access the kill switch. Flip the switch to the 1 position to put the lightsaber into standby mode. The boot sound of the current sound bank sounds.

Then screw the main body with the pommel back onto the front part of the lightsaber. It is now ready.

If stored for a longer period of time, we recommend setting the kill switch to 0 to interrupt the current flow from the battery to the board and thus extend the battery life.

Inserting and unplugging the blade depending on the type of lighting

A circuit board with spring contact pins is installed in the emitter of the lightsaber

a) a pixel blade
b) a NeoCree adapter with a high power LED-illuminated blade

can be operated.

Pixel operation

Pixel blades contain a circuit board equipped on both sides with individually controllable RGB LEDs. This allows a wide variety of effects to be created that are not possible by illuminating a blade with a high-power LED (HPLED). The characteristic retraction and extension effect, localized flash on clashes or lockups as well as different blade profiles can be displayed in this way. Furthermore, the brightness is significantly greater than high-power LED-illuminated lightsabers.

In order to use a pixel blade, the lightsaber must have a suitable connector on the hilt side, so it cannot simply be plugged into a lightsaber with a high-power LED.

Push the blade as deep into the handle as possible. Overcome the slight resistance in the last millimeters so that the spring contact pins have secure contact with the blade-side circuit board. Then secure the blade with the blade mounting screw.

Attention: Due to the structure of the blade and the circuit board it contains, the blade is only suitable for combat to a limited extent. We therefore expressly exclude battle damage from the warranty and guarantee.

HPLED operation with a NeoCree adapter

In order to make the lightsaber suitable for combat, a corresponding blade can be illuminated with a NeoCree adapter.

The NeoCree adapter contains a high-power LED with RGB configuration, which reproduces the behavior of the first pixel in the pixel blade. Since the HPLED-illuminated blade (unlike the pixel blade) contains no electronics, the lightsaber is suitable for combat.

The NeoCree adapter comes with a plastic ring. This one

a) you push the step on the NeoCree adapter if the light-conducting foil in the blade is not 5 mm shorter than the blade itself or

b) you can leave it out if the light-conducting foil in the blade is at least 5 mm shorter than the blade itself.

Slide the NeoCree adapter into the lightsaber emitter with or without the plastic ring. Insert the blade as well and push it as deep into the handle as possible. Overcome the slight resistance in the last millimeters so that the spring contact pins have secure contact with the blade-side circuit board. Then fix the blade.

To switch on and off

To activate the lightsaber, briefly press the main switch once. To deactivate it again, briefly press and hold the switch until the lightsaber turns off.

Silent mode

To activate the lightsaber silently, hold down the Aux switch and briefly press the main switch. The lightsaber now works without sounds. To turn it off, briefly press and hold the main switch.

Blaster block, lockup and force effects

The CFX supports some effects that can be triggered using the Aux switch.

  • A blaster block sound is triggered by tapping.
  • The lockup is triggered by pressing and holding.
  • The Force Push is activated by tapping when a swing is triggered at the same time.
  • Force Clash is activated by tapping when a clash is triggered at the same time.

Deep Sleep

To extend battery life, the lightsaber goes into deep sleep after 30 minutes. You can tell this is because the switch no longer lights up. In this case, simply press one of the switches to return the lightsaber to active mode.

Selection of color and blade profiles

The CFX has a color changing function. To activate this, hold down the Aux switch while the lightsaber is switched on and briefly press the main switch. The sound “Spectrum” sounds. Now slowly rotate the lightsaber around its longitudinal axis until the blade glows in the color you want to choose. You can now either

1. confirm the color selection by briefly pressing the main or aux switch or
2. Press and hold the main or aux switch. In this case the announcement “Blade Profiles” sounds. Here, too, you can rotate the lightsaber around its longitudinal axis to cycle through different blade profiles (different pulse and flicker speeds as well as intensities). Confirm your choice by briefly pressing one of the switches.

Sound bank change

The lightsaber comes with a set of sound banks for you to choose from. To change the sound bank, you first have to go to the menu. To do this, hold down the Aux switch with the lightsaber switched off until the announcement “Soundbank Selection” sounds, indicating that you are in the menu. To move forward through the menu, briefly press the Aux switch; to move backwards, briefly press the main switch. Once you have reached the desired sound bank, press and hold one of the two switches, whereupon the boot sound of the selected sound bank will sound.

Loading the lightsaber

To charge the lightsaber, unscrew the main body together with the pommel and pull it from the lightsaber until the charging socket is visible. Plug the included charger (or an equivalent) (output voltage 4.2 V, charging current maximum 2 A) into the charging socket.

If the LED on the charger lights up red, the lightsaber is being charged. When the battery is fully charged, the LED lights up green.

Once the lightsaber is loaded, screw the main body with the pommel back onto the front part of the lightsaber.

Battery replacement

To change the battery or charge it outside of the lightsaber, unscrew the main body together with the pommel and pull it completely from the chassis. Behind the soundboard, near the positive contact, you can see the battery on the board side. Gently push the battery out from below with your thumb.

Never use pointed or sharp objects to push or pry the battery out of the holder!

Attention: When inserting the new or charged battery, pay attention to the correct polarity, otherwise you will damage or destroy the soundboard. The positive and negative poles are marked on both the battery and the chassis. Once you have reinserted the battery, screw the main body with the pommel back onto the front part of the lightsaber.

USB access

To access the board's USB port, unscrew the main body together with the pommel and pull it completely from the chassis. Now plug the micro-USB cable into your lightsaber and your computer. To connect the lightsaber to your PC, select the “SD-card USB access” option in the menu. You can now access the contents of the SD card.

To save your changes, briefly press the Main or Aux switch; The lightsaber will then separate from your PC. Screw the main body with the pommel back onto the front part of the lightsaber.

SD card access

To remove the board's SD card, unscrew the main body together with the pommel and pull it completely from the chassis. Use tweezers to press on the board's SD card, which will then be pushed out a little by a spring. Then take it out carefully.

To insert the SD card, carefully place it in the holder and push it in until you hear a clicking sound. Screw the main body with the pommel back onto the front part of the lightsaber.
