The Zephyr (greek westerly) combines an attractive design and good handling. Unlike the Tiro and Patronus the focus was set on more sophisticated design elements but without sacrificing much of the convenience holding the saber. The partial anodizing emphasizes individual elements.
The 3D-printed chassis keeps the internal components securely in place so that this saber is ready for dueling immediately upon receiving. The saber can be charged via a 2.1 mm recharge port. It is also possible to swap the battery. The blade is removable and can be fixed into the hilt with a set screw. Equipped with a Covertec-wheel placed onto the saber it can be used to easily secure the saber to your belt.
The soundboard installed is the Crystal Focus Saber Core 10 (CF10 oder CFX) from Plecter Labs, the most advanced and user-friendly board on the market. Many aspects of the board can be customized to the customer's needs for example sensitivities, color profiles or the sound volume. One can also add more sounds.
Important: customizing can be done but is not necessary at all. The saber comes preset and ready-to-use so no further changes are necessary to start.
The board stores a number of sound fonts. A sound font (or sound bank) is a set of matching sounds representing a certain saber. Some of them are inspired by character sabers.
Some of these sound fonts support smoothswing which means that swing sounds are not played from a file but generated in realtime.
A wide selection of soundfonts can be found at http://www.saberfont.com/. The sound fonts have to be optimisted for Plecter Labs CFX and ideally for for Plecter Labs CFX SS (Smoothswing).
The manual of the board can be found here: http://www.plecterlabs.com/shop/article_info.php?articles_id=125
A user guide for this saber can be found here.
The board drives a Tri-LED (Model: Tri-Cree with XP-E2 emitters). This leads to two options:
1. Color-changing version
Choosing the color-changing version will get you a dRGrB (deep red, green, royal blue)-LED that can mix any color possible in the spectrum. There are 32 preset color profiles that cover most of the spectrum. These can be changed by the user.
2. Single-color version
Opting for the single-color version will get you an LED-configuration that determines a specific blade color. As an example, for a green blade a GGW (Green Green White)-LED is installed in which the white emitter is used to provide Flash on Clash. For the main blade color there are always two same-color emitters used in combination with a white emitter. There are two preset color profiles (both colored emitter illuminated + one colored emitter illuminated to save some runtime.
The following colors can be chosen as main blade colors:
- Deep Red
- Royal Blue
You now have the choice between both options: you can either get a color-changing saber or a saber with dedicated blade color which is a bit brighter than the color-changing version due to the LED configuration using two same-color emitters. Flash on Clash (flashing blade triggered by concussion) is a standard feature.
